InfraMation SenSation!

by David Francoeur, FLIR Systems

F
or those of you who joined us at InfraMation 2008 in Reno recently, it was great to see you!  And for the many who did not join us, we hope to see you at InfraMation 2009 to be held in Las Vegas, NV from September 21 – 24, 2009!

This past year we had over 650 attendees and their guests – record attendance!

With over 60 technical and poster presentations and 18 separate “IR Clinics” there was enough to keep us all busy for the week!

But while, of course, I think what I have to say is the most important, I’ll turn the mike over to you, so to speak!

That is, each year after InfraMation we spend a great deal of time surveying the attendees and asking for feedback on the conference.  So, with that, here’s what the attendees of InfraMation 2008 had to say …

A whopping 90.9% said InfraMation 2008 was a “very good, if not fantastic” event – thank you!  Furthermore, 97.8% reported that they would recommend InfraMation to a colleague or friend.  That’s powerful.

I hope to all of you who have never attended InfraMation – or maybe haven’t attended in a few years – will take a moment now to register with us for InfraMation 2009.  Infrared cameras have come a long way, more perhaps in the past 4 years than the past 40.

What makes infrared cameras unique is that for such a sophisticated piece of technology, they can be used quite easily.  Sure, some training is required, but the benefits are enormous, and I heard over and over again how so many individuals see their infrared camera as not just a valuable tool, but a way to advance their business or careers.

Here are some direct quotes from attendees:

  • Packed with professionals in all areas, very interesting and cutting edge.

  • First time I attended … superb value!

  • Very informative and a great opportunity to meet and greet others in the IR field and exchange ideas and methods.

  • Great for me – and, therefore, my employer!

  • Worth its weight in gold – I know because this year I had to pay for it myself!

  • First one I attended – very good range of events!

  • Open forums, lots of useful discussion.

  • Great!

So, there you have it!

InfraMation 2009 will be the conference’s 10th Anniversary.  We are proud to host the world’s largest infrared camera applications conference and, as you can see from the attendee comments above, most who attend will recommend it to a colleague.

Each year we break the previous year’s record for attendance, and next year we hope you will join us.  It is really a great value and, I can assure you, all the people at ITC and FLIR Systems work very hard to make it a great event.

If you’re interested in registering for next year, we have a great offer for you.

 ITC Message Board Posts

Here is a selection of recent new threads by IR Community members. Feel free to click the links, see the responses, and post your own response if you like.

  • air ingress detection in a vacuum system
How IRT is useful in detecting air ingress( detection of cold spots) in a vacuum system? any example?

  • Cool spots where ceiling and wall meet
I have seen this quite often in our scans of homes. My partner says it is air infiltration coming through the eaves and cold spots caused by the rafter tails. The outside temperature is 60 degrees. Inside temperature is around 68 degrees. Would such a small temperature difference between the inside and out cause this.

  • Fire Pump / Flanges Hot!!
well, i take this image of the fire pump, and noted Hot Flanges, after little investigation, discover the water output was totally closed. question is: why flanges get hot?

  • Pillow block
Pillow block from a Refiner pump on a mill paper plant, image to share, any comments about temperature on pillow block?

  • Air leakage or steel lintel conduction
I have join some pictures of new aluminum windows in a brick wall. The wall is insulated with 75mm of polyurethane and as a air space of 30mm between insul. and brick.
Those pictures where taken at 10Pm. The ext. temp was 8degC and the int temp. was 18degC. A light ''est'' wind 7km/h put this wall facing west in positive pressure.
What do you think can cause the colder area over the windows.

And of course if YOU have a question or want to start a discussion on a topic, we would love to hear from you. Just post a new thread on a message board.
